AFCON AFCON 2023: Nigeria Govt Promise To Reward Super Eagles Players

After reaching the final of the AFCON 2023 with a win against South Africa on Wednesday, the Government has promised to reward the Super Eagles for their commitment and dedication.

The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima who was live to watch the match at the Bouake Stadium made the pledge to the players and their officials in the dressing room.

After a nervous start to the AFCON 2023 with a 1-1 draw against Equatorial-Guinea in their Group A opener, Nigeria Super Eagles marched on to the final defeating Cameroon, Angola and South Africa in the enroute to the final.

A statement on the official X account of the Super Eagles read;

“The Federal Govt has promised to reward the Super Eagles for their commitment and dedication in reaching the Final of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in CIV.

“Vice President Kashim Shettima told the players and their officials in the dressing room, following their hard-fought victory over South Africa in the semi finals on Wednesday, that the govt and people of Nigeria are proud of their accomplishment.

“The VP was in company with Governors Dapo Abiodun (Ogun) and Duoye Diri (Bayelsa), Minister for Youth, Dr. Jamila Ibrahim as well as Oil mogul Wale Tinubu, FIFA Council Member Amaju Pinnick and NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau.”

The Super Eagles will face host, Ivory Coast in the final on Sunday as they hope to win the AFCON title for the fourth time.
