Rwanda Struggling Bugesera FC frustrate table leaders APR FC in top flight contest

APR endured a frustrating afternoon in Nyamata as they failed to maintain their gap at the top of the Rwandan Premier League table following Sunday’s frustrating 0-0 draw with Bugesera FC.

It was an evenly matched game between table leaders APR who have not lost a single so far this campaign and a struggling Bugesera FC side which has only registered on win in their last five outings.

The likes of Sharaf Eldin Shaiboub and Alain Kwitonda came so close to scoring on the half hour mark but Bugesera’s defense stood resolute to keep the visitors at bay.

Francis Haringingo’s team quickly warmed themselves into the game with league top scorer Elijah Ani getting at the back of Yunusu Nshimiyimana and Clement Niyigena a couple of times only for goalkeeper Pavelh Ndzila came to the rescue.

Despite being deeply rooted in the relegation zone, Bugesera have been able to hold APR in two legs this season, having also played a 1-1 draw in Kigali in October 2023. APR FC now sit at the top of the table with 46 points, four clear of second-placed Rayon Sports. Thierry Froger still have one game in hand.

Meanwhile, Kevin Ebene and Fiston Ishimwe scored for AS Kigali as they defeated Marines FC 2-1 whereas Muhazi United also held Police FC to a goalless draw at Ngoma Stadium, a result that saw the law enforcers go six matches without a win.
