UEFA Champions League UCL: Tuchel Optimistic Bayern Can Turn The Tide Against Madrid

Real Madrid’s deadly efficiency defeated Bayern Munich in Tuesday’s 2-2 draw, but coach Thomas Tuchel believes his team is ready to defeat them in the Champions League semi-final return leg in Madrid the following week.

After Vinicius Jr. gave the visitors the lead against the run of play in the 24th, the Bavarians hit twice in four minutes early in the second half, one through a shot from Leroy Sane and the other through a penalty kick from Harry Kane.

In the 83rd minute, when Bayern was pressing for a third goal, the Brazilian striker also equalised with a penalty kick.

The result is what it is and it’s not worth spending any time thinking about it,” Tuchel, who will leave Bayern at the end of the season after a disappointing domestic campaign, told a press conference.

“Real have done it before, to score twice with two chances.

We are not the first team to suffer that.

“They have the finish, they have the quality to do that.

“We had a strong start then we lost a bit our rhythm.

“We should have scored a third but we were not efficient enough, not cold enough to add a third. Then we gifted them a penalty.”

After leading 2-1 at the beginning, Bayern had opportunities to score again and had a great start.

In order to get to the Wembley final, they will now need to defeat Real Madrid, who are trying to win a record 15 European Cups, in Madrid on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Borussia Dortmund and Paris St. Germain square off in the other semi-final.

Tuchel continued, “The situation is now very clear.”

“The winner takes it all when we travel to Madrid. “We’re prepared to battle. It is crucial to hold that belief.

“It is still possible. It is 50-50. It is one of the toughest places to win but that is also what makes this challenge exciting.”
