Africa Athletics : Bob Tahri starts in half marathon

The Franco-Algerian Bob Tahri reconverted into marathon. The bronze medalist in the 3,000 m steeplechase World 2009, will make its debut on the road half-marathon in New York on March 17.

The 3000m steeplechase specialist aged 34, had waived this winter to participate in the European Indoor Championships when he had managed minima.

The rider suffered a nasopharyngitis and can not defend his chances 100% had abstained.

Athlete of Algerian origin, still holds the European record of 3,000 m steeplechase (8:01.18), made at the World-2009 Berlin, and starts a new challenge even though it could still participate in the Championships Moscow World this summer (10-18 August) on his favorite distance.

In New York, he will find including the Kenyan Wilson Kipsang Kiprotich, bronze medalist in the marathon at the 2012 Olympic Games.
