Tanzania Yanga SC miss chance to move seven points clear after JKT draw

Young Africans (Yanga SC) missed the chance to open a seven-point lead at the top of the Mainland Premier League table after sharing the spoils with JKT Tanzania.

Yanga were held to a 0-0 draw at Major General Isamuhyo ground in Dar es Salaam, the outcome that saw Yanga claim 59th point after 23 outings, keeping sitting at the top spot of the Premier League table, with seven games to go for the season.

It was their second draw of the campaign and are just five points clear at the summit of the log. For JKT Tanzania, they jumped to the 13th place on the table from 15th place, after generating 23 points from 23 matches.

Initially, the match was set for Tuesday but had to be rescheduled to the following day as the pitch was waterlogged, following heavy downpour in the city. The hosts did their homework well, as they showed a strong resistance, aiming to deny the visitors maximum points, a mission they succeeded.

Shiza Kichuya and Sixtus Sabilo were always giving Yanga defenders tough moments whenever they attacked, though most of their attempts failed to produce tangible results for their team.

Similarly, they had a concrete defense with former Yanga full-back, David Bryson, executing well his responsibilities to diffuse dangers imposed by the visitors.
