Surprise. The IOC (International Olympic Committee) announces this Wednesday the postponement of the 2022 Youth Olympic Games attributed to Senegal. And hold on, see you in 2026.

“By mutual agreement, Senegal and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) have decided to postpone the 2022 Dakar Youth Olympic Games to 2026,” said a press release.

This is a request from Macky Sall, Senegalese head of state. “This postponement allows Senegal to continue the excellent preparations for the Youth Olympic Games”, continues the note.

Africa will therefore have to wait before hosting its first Olympic Games.
