Ligue 1 Dembele, Mbappe On Target As PSG Edge Close To 12th Ligue 1 Title

Ousmane Dembele and Kylian Mbappe each scored twice as Paris St. Germain defeated second-place Lorient 4-1 on the road on Wednesday, bringing them closer to a record-tying 12th Ligue 1 championship.

If second-place Monaco loses at home against Lille, Luis Enrique’s team will win the championship later on Wednesday.

With four games remaining, PSG has 69 points, while Monaco is 14 points behind.

A week prior to PSG’s first leg of the Champions League semifinal against Borussia Dortmund, the squad rested Bradley Barcola, Marquinhos, Vitinha, and Warren Zaire-Emery, all of whom were in excellent form.

On minute 19, Dembele gave the capital team the lead as he dribbled past two defenders and slotted the ball past Yvon Mvogo from just inside the area.

After three minutes, Mbappe doubled the lead with a cross from Nuno Mendes.

After that, on the hour mark, Dembele tapped in from Mbappe’s cross to definitively seal the victory.

In the 73rd minute, Mohamed Bamba cut the deficit, but for a side with 26 points from 30 games, it was too little, too late.

With a right-footed goal in the final minute, Mbappe extended his goal total in the top flight to 26 for the season.
