Europe UEFA names referees for Champions league, Europa League finals

UEFA has appointed the referees for the Champions league (May 29) and the Europa League (May 26) finals.

The Champions league final is set to be played on Saturday 29 May at 21:00 CET between Manchester City FC and Chelsea with the venue to be confirmed shortly.

It will be officiated by Spaniard top referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz, 44. This will be his first UCL final after serving as fourth official at the 2019 final between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool FC in Madrid, Spain.

Moreover, the Europa League final between Manchester United and Villarreal will be refereed by Frenchman Clément Turpin, 38, who is international since 2010.

The final is scheduled on Wednesday 26 May at 21:00 CET at Gdańsk Stadium, Poland.

Turpin will be assisted by compatriots Nicolas Danos and Cyril Gringore. The fourth official, Slavko Vinčić, is from Slovenia.

The video assistant referee role has been assigned to François Letexier (France), and he will be aided by countrymen Jérôme Brisard and Benjamin Pages. Paulus van Boekel (Netherlands) completes the VAR line-up.
