Africa Soccer Senegal beat Togo in 2022 World Cup qualifiers opener

The Teranga Lions of Senegal edge past Togo (2-0) to kick off in style their 2022 World Cup qualifiers at home on Wednesday afternoon at Lat Dior Stadium in Thiès.

The first half was a bit difficult for Aliou Cissé’s men as Togo’s Sparrow Hawks were almost behind during the entire 45 minutes defending to avoid conceding a goal.

And Paulo Duarte’s plan worked in that first stanza as Senegalfailed to score.

However, Mané and teammates levelled up during the second half with the Liverpool talisman opening the deadlock for his side in the 56th minute.

Paris Saint-Germain defender Abdou Diallo increase’d the lead for Teranga Lions nine minutes prior to the full-time to help Senegal win 2-0.

Senegal will make a trip to Brazzaville to face Congo on September while Togo will be hosting Namibia on September 5 in Lomé.
