New Al Ahly head coach Marcel Koller says the Egyptian Premier League side is the greatest club in Africa as he replaced Ricardo Soares on the Red Devils bench.
The Swiss manager arrived on Friday in Cairo and was unveiled by Al Ahly whos officials are hiring their second coach just three months after Pitso Mosimane’s exit.
Portuguese manager Ricardo Soares who was named to replace him only lasted two months and it’s now up to Koller to bring back Al Ahly to where they belong.
The club announced on Friday that the 61-year old signed a two-year contract which will see him being their coach until 2024.
Speaking upon his appointment, Marcel Koller expressed delight with the fans’ warm welcome and called Al Ahly the greatest club in African continent.
“Thank you for the warm reception,” Marcel Koller said, as per KingFut.
“I am happy to manage the greatest club in Africa and the Middle East.”
In addition, the 2022/23 Egyptian Premier League season will start on October 25.
