Ligue 1 Hakimi Sent Off As Lorient Humbles 10-Men PSG

Ten men Paris Saint-Germain lost to a deserving Lorient team on Sunday, losing 3-1, and dropped to the top of Ligue 1.

Enzo Le Fee’s unexpected goal for the visitors at Parc des Princes was followed by Achraf Hakimi’s dismissal for receiving a second yellow card in the 20th minute.

Despite Christophe Galtier’s team having the upper hand after Kylian Mbappe’s contentious goal, Darlin Yongwa and Bamba Dieng scored to deliver the hosts yet another loss.

It is their third in six league games, but PSG still has a comfortable lead over second-placed Marseille, who are eight points behind them with one game remaining.

When Hakimi clattered through Romain Faivre with his studs during the opening exchanges, there were warning signs of a possible PSG collapse.

Le Fee’s six-yard strike after a cut-back made things much worse for the home team, and then Hakimi was sent off for lunging in on Yongwa’s foot.

When goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo dropped the ball in his own penalty area after mistakingly believing he had a free-kick, Mbappe took advantage of the bizarre opportunity to score the equalizer.

Lorient, however, would not be in the lead for long. When a defensive block inside the PSG box went wrong, Yongwa was there to seize the opportunity and retake the lead.

Despite being down a man, PSG made a strong effort to equalize after the break, with Sergio Ramos narrowly missing with a header just before the hour mark.

But Lorient killed them right there at the counter. Dieng eventually scored after grabbing on a long pass for a breakaway goal after seeing a tap-in called off for offside late in the game.
