Al Ahly du Caire Al Ahly Are Super Cup Champions After Win Over Pyramid

Al-Ahly defeated Pyramids 1-0 in overtime to win the Abu Dhabi Super Cup on Friday, breaking a previous record and adding to their already impressive tally of 13 victories.

Egyptian champions Zamalek withdrew in protest at decisions made by the Egyptian Football Association, including the fact that their former forward Kahraba was permitted to play for Al-Ahly despite being suspended for allegedly chanting derogatory remarks about Zamalek following the Cairo derby in January. Pyramids took their place.

As a substitute, Egypt’s international Kahraba won his team a penalty, which Tunisian Ali Maaloul scored. Kahraba has denied any wrongdoing, and his 12-match suspension has been suspended until a local court convenes on May 14.
