Argentina strolled into the last-16 of the U20 Fifa World Cup with a comfortable 3-0 victory against Guatemala at Estadio Unico Madre de Ciudades on Wednesday.
Goals from Alejo Veliz, Luka Romero, and Maximo Perrone ensured that the Javier Mascherano-led side cemented their top spot in Group A with six points.
Argentina took the lead in the 17th minute when Veliz powered a brilliant header into the top corner for a 1-0 lead at the half-time break. In the 58th minute, Guatemala suffered a blow after Carlos Santos was dismissed for a second yellow card.

Substitute Romero doubled Argentina’s lead midway through the second half with a fine strike from distance but they were also reduced to 10 men after defender Tomas Aviles was dismissed in the 80th minute.
Avile’s exit did not dampen Argentina’s urge to score and they sealed the game in the stoppages when Perrone prodded home a loose ball in the box.
Argentina, who kicked off their group campaign with a 2-1 victory against Uzbekistan, have six points from two matches, New Zealand are second on four, Uzbekistan are third with one point while Guatemala are last with no point.
The Albiceleste will wind up their group fixtures with a clash against New Zealand at Estadio San Juan del Bicentenario on Saturday.
