The 2023 COSAFA Cup match between Angola and Mozambique ended in a 1-all draw in the battle of the Lusophone countries on Friday at the King Zwelithini Stadium.

After taking an early lead and seeming poised to join pool leaders Lesotho on three points, Angola was defeated in Durban by The Mambas, who came back with some late venom.

Benarfa scored the game’s first goal after just three minutes. The forward buried his shot with his left foot as Angola dismantled the Mozambique defence, capping off an excellent team effort.

It first appeared as though that would be enough to secure the victory, but Mozambique tied the score when Angola custodian Nsesani was unable to stop a stinging shot, and Dayo Antonio finished it off easily from close range.
