South Africa will take on Eswatini with the goal of securing a spot in the 2023 Cosafa Cup semifinalsin their final Group A match, scheduled for Tuesday, July 11, at the Princess Magogo Stadium.

At 6 p.m. CAT, the game begins.

With a 1-1 draw against Namibia in midweek and a 2-1 victory over Botswana over the weekend, Bafana Bafana are in first place in Group A with four points.

Iqraam Rayners and Shaune Mogaila’s goals helped South Africa overtake the Zebras and win when their opponents were relegated to ten men. They also took full advantage of the situation.

“Honestly speaking, the overall performance was much better than the first match,” said SA coach Morena Ramoreboli.

“We are building on the performance after every game, so I am very, very happy with the victory.”

He added, “We needed this victory so that at least we go into the next match with confidence. We just have to go prepare and remain focused.”

Congratulations to the technical bench, congratulations to the players,” said Sihlangu Semnikati coach Dominic Kunene. “I think we applied ourselves correctly from the first minute [against Namibia] and we will look to do the same in our next match.”

The other Group A match between Namibia and Botswana will be played simultaneously at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Only the group winners will be guaranteed a semifinal spot, with the runners-up left to see whether their record is better than their counterparts from Group B and Group C in order to qualify for the final four.

In head-to-head terms, South Africa and Eswatini have met in eight matches dating back as far as 2000.

Bafana Bafana boast an unbeaten record in the rivalry, with seven wins and one draw.

The teams last met in the 2021 edition of the Cosafa Cup, with South Africa winning 1-0 in a group stage match in Port Elizabeth thanks to a second-half strike from Thabang Sibanyoni.
