Friendly Vipers SC to face Kagera Sugar in pre-season friendly

Ugandan Premier League champions Vipers SC have lined up a pre-season friendly against Kagera Sugar of Tanzania.

According to a statement on their official website, the Venoms will play the visiting side at St Mary’s Kitende Stadium on Wednesday behind closed doors. The statement read: “As preparations for the forthcoming campaign heat up, Vipers SC will take on Tanzania Premier League side Kagera Sugar in an international friendly,” adding: “The Venoms, will play host to their travelling visitors at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday, behind closed doors.”

The statement continued: “This will make it our first friendly game with a team beyond borders in this year’s preseason. The game will provide a clear picture for our new head coach Leonard Martins Neiva on the tactical and fitness levels of his team.

“It will also serve as a perfect precursor for the forthcoming FUFA Super 8 tournament, the Caf Champions League, and the 2023-24 Ugandan Premier League.”

Meanwhile, Kagera are also up in gears ahead of next season, as they will look to better the previous campaign’s show. Last season, they finished eleventh on the 16-team Tanzania Premier League table, having collected 35 points in 30 matches.
