Following his nomination for the 2023 Ballon d’Or award, Super Eagles attacker Victor Osimhen has been praised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Osimhen had a fantastic season with Napoli in 2022–23, scoring 26 goals and dishing out four assists in 32 games to win the Serie A golden boot.
In 1990, his goals enabled Napoli to win the Italian championship for the first time.
The 30-person shortlist for the Ballon d’Or includes, among others, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, and Argentine master Lionel Messi.

In response to the nominees’ announcement, the CAF thanked Mohammed Salah, Andrey Onana, and Osimhen.
Osimhen is now camped with the Super Eagles as they get ready for their AFCON qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe on Sunday, September 10.
He has three goals this season in three Serie A games.
