Despite having their leader Lionel Messi rested, Argentina defeated Bolivia 3-0 on Tuesday to earn their second victory of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Messi’s replacement as captain, Angel Di Maria, excelled, contributing two assists prior to halfway.

After 30 minutes, Enzo Fernandez of Chelsea scored his third goal for his country after finishing close to the goal line after Di Maria’s pass.

Five minutes later, Roberto Fernandez’s crude tackle on Cristian Romero resulted in a red card, dealing Bolivia another setback as they were now down to 10 men.

With a header from a free kick by Angel Di Maria in the 42nd minute, Nicolas Tagliafico increased the advantage and scored his first goal for the World Cup champions Argentina.

In the 83rd minute, Nicolas Gonzalez’s forceful effort secured the victory.
