There will be no difference from the frienldy - Song says on Cameroon vs Senegal AFCON clash

Cameroon national team head coach Rigobert Song says their friendly game against Senegal will be played as if they were already in Côte d’Ivoire where both nations will face off again in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Cameroon vs Senegal friendly has been scheduled before the AFCON draw and despite being in the same group, both countries agreed not to cancel the game which will be played tonight in Lens (6:30 pm).

Speaking on the match, Rigobert Song said the Indomitable Lions want to beat Teranga Lions as they did in AFCON 2017 quarterfinals by eliminating Aliou Cisse’s men.

It’s a match that everyone wants to play”, Song said in his pre-match press conference.

“There will be no difference between tomorrow’s match and that of January. It’s going to be a match taken seriously because it will allow both teams to evaluate each other and put a strategy in place.

“Today, all the African teams have progressed. All groups are taken seriously like every match. We focus more on us, the Lions even though there are some great teams there. In Guinea, they have a former teammate (Kaba Diawara, editor’s note) who is there. You understand very well that it’s not going to be easy but we’ve known that from the start and we’re used to this kind of situation.
