Uganda Vipers SC defeat Bright Stars to move fourth on the log

StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) champions, Vipers SC, recorded their third victory to keep track of events at the top of the table when they beat Soltilo Bright Stars on Saturday.

An Andrew Kyambadde 49th-minute own goal and Bright Anukani’s 53rd-minute strike off an Abdul Lumala pass were enough to move the Venoms to fourth on 11 points, four behind leaders Kitara and BUL.

Bright Stars’ third defeat in five matches leaves them in 13th place on just two points. At the Bombi Military Ground, Bright Vuni’s 81st-minute goal cancelled out Emmanuel Wasswa Alex’s first-half strike for hosts UPDF to claim a point in the 1-1 draw with Express.

Express moved one up to fifth place on 11 points, while UPDF stayed third from the bottom on two. In Luzira, Darious Ojok scored in the fourth minute of added time for hosts Maroons to salvage a point after Emmanuel Okech had put URA ahead 13 minutes earlier. The result has URA sixth on nine points while Maroons are a place and point below.
