Napoli Osimhen In Action As Frosinone Send Napoli Out Of Coppa Italia

Victor Osimhen was in action as Serie A Napoli were dumped out of the Coppa Italia in the last 16 on Tuesday following a 4-0 thrashing at home by Frosinone.

Osimhen who has scored in his two consecutive start for Napoli came in as a substitute in the second half after the host struggled to get a goal.

Frosinone took the lead with to goals from Enzo Barrenechea and Giuseppe Caso in the second half.

Two more goals in stoppage time guaranteed their spot in the quarterfinals.

Giovanni Simeone gave Napoli the lead with a goal late in the first half, but the goal was disallowed due to a handball during the buildup.

The hosts found it difficult to generate scoring opportunities, but Frosinone—who were making their maiden appearance in the round of 16—took an unexpected lead in the 65th minute when Barrenechea headed home a corner.

Five minutes later, Caso doubled their lead with a solo effort.

After Giovanni Di Lorenzo fouled Francesco Gelli, Frosinone, who is presently 13th in the league, won 3-0 thanks to a penalty kick from Walid Cheddira. Abdou Harroui then completed the victory for the visitors late in stoppage time.

In their previous six meetings with Frosinone in all competitions, Napoli had won each time.
