Uganda Kimera with the winner as Wakiso Giants defeat visiting URA FC

Kenneth Kimera scored the winner as Wakiso Giants returned to winning ways by stopping URA’s charge 1-0 at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium on Tuesday.

Wakiso’s fifth win in 18 Ugandan Premier League matches moves them to 20 points, lifting them out of relegation by a spot, while URA remain seventh on 27. Wakiso came into Tuesday’s match on the back of a 0-0 draw with Maroons and a 1-0 defeat to Soltilo Bright Stars.

Their last victory, a 2-1 win over KCCA, was on January 6. In contrast, coach David Obua’s URA were coming off a two-match winning sequence – beating UPDF and Gaddafi – before ramming into Wakiso Giants dragon teeth.

Elsewhere in Bombo, hosts UPDF and NEC exchanged leads before finally settling for a 2-2 draw. Bashir Kabuye Bashir put UPDF ahead on 42 minutes before Marvin Kavuma levelled for NEC on the hour.

NEC then took the lead for the first time through Cromwell Rwothomio four minutes later but Christopher Kawagu rescued a point for the hosts 18 minutes from full time.

The fifth draw in 18 matches moved NEC one place and mark up to fourth on 31 points, six behind leaders BUL while UPDF remained second from bottom on 10.
