Nigeria Women Football League NWFL: Delta Queens Search For Away Win Continue

With even more surprises for match day eight fixtures, the 2023 Nigeria Women Football League, or NWFL, Premiership, made a triumphant return for the second stanza.

Defending champions Delta Queens continued to search for their first away win as they blew up their one goal lead to succumb 2-1 against Sunshine Queens.

Chisom Nwachukwu gave Delta Queens the lead in the 25 minutes but a brace from Bolaji Olamide in the 39th and 68th minute was enough to hand the host the win.

In Port Harcourt, FC Robo Queens held Rivers Angels to Stalemate.

After defeating Adamawa Queens 3-0 at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, Heartland Queens kept their 14-point advantage in Group A.

On the eighth matchday, Confluence Queens defeated Naija Ratels by a close margin of one point, but the biggest winners were the Nasarawa Amazons, who destroyed Royal Queens 4-0 in Lafia.

In the South-South derby, the teams Edo Queens and Bayelsa Queens drew, and in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti Queens overcame a goal deficit to defeat Remo Stars Ladies 2-1.

Eighth match day results showed Abia Angels winning 3-1 against Dannaz Ladies, with a total of 20 goals scored.

Heartland Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, and Confluence Queens are all equal with 14 points in Group A standings, with the Owerri team having a better goals differential.

Rivers Angels lead Group B with 15 points, despite losing ground at home. Bayelsa Queens and Edo Queens are next in line with 13 points apiece.
