Olympic Games Zambia’s Copper Queens ready for convincing win against Morocco – Banda

Zambia women’s national team captain Barbra Banda is calling on supporters to show up for Friday’s important Paris 2024 Olympics final round, first leg match against the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco.

Banda says the Levy Mwanawasa atmosphere is incomplete without the presence of fans and it would be important for them to rally behind the team in a friendly and non-violent manner.

“It is always exciting to play in Ndola, I would like to ask the fans to come in numbers and support us. The first leg is always important. We have to win the game at home and finish the job away,” Banda said.

“The team is ready and everyone is in shape and looking forward to the game, we are focused on getting a result in tomorrow’s game. I think having a lot of experienced players in the team does not call for us to relax, we have coordinate as players.”

After the first leg on Friday, the Copper Queens will travel to Morocco for the second leg to be played on 9 April. Winner over two legs will qualify for one of the two available African slots at the Olympics. Nigeria and South Africa are fighting for the other slot.
