CAF CONFEDERATION CUP CAFCC: Dreams FC Coach Proud Of His Players Despite Exit

After Dreams FC’s debutants were eliminated from the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup, coach Abdul Karim Zito is optimistic that his team would return to the continental stage with more experience.

After his team’s 3-0 loss to Zamalek in Kumasi on Sunday, which led to their elimination at the semi-final stage, Zito shared his thoughts.

The Ghanaian team’s incredible run in the competition came to an end with the loss, as Zamalek’s outstanding play guaranteed them a spot in the championship game.

Hamza Mathlouthi of Zamalek opened the score early in the second leg after the first leg ended in a draw in Cairo.

Goals from Samson Akinyoola and Mustafa Shalaby then completed the scoring.

Dreams FC, who upset Mali’s heavyweight team Stade Malien to go to the semifinals, are happy of their accomplishments even if they are out of the competition.

Zito confessed his team’s inadequacies in his post-match press conference statement, saying, “We lacked creating opportunities, then they were able to score goals and scored due to a lack of our concentration.”

Zito showed his pride in his players despite the disappointment of the loss, saying, “Today I am proud of our players and I cannot blame them because we know what we were able to achieve.”

In the future, Zito stressed the value of taking what he had learned from the experience, saying, “We have to remain composed during games and handle particular situations in a specific way.

” As we prepare for the future, there are some things we need to learn from the game, such how suffering is necessary to achieve your goals.”

With the win, Zamalek advances to yet another continental final, solidifying their position as one of Africa’s elite teams, while Dreams attempts to turn things around and prepare for the future.
