Ghana CHAN 2014: Ghana coach explains why the DRC is formidable

361209_heroaGhana and DR Congo clash this Sunday (18.30) for a place in the semi – finals of the African Nations Championship. Both teams know each other well as they have already met in 2009 during the first edition of CHAN. Ghana had won 3-0 in pools before losing 0-2 in the final.

Maxwell Konadu at a pre-game press conference shows the challenges of the meeting: “I know very well the DRC team which has players very experienced from TPM to exit the big game at this stage of the competition. I have great respect for this nation and for those players who attend high-level African football. Sunday, Ghana will have a very different approach to game with players able to adapt to all situations and ready to go for the win. In my group, all goes well until a few hours of the game. We want to produce good football while showing that we have arguments before an ambitious Congolese team.”

To counter the Leopards, Konadu can count on striker Mohammed Yahaya , suspended in the last game: ” In football anything can happen and we prepared for all these eventualities , even the penalties are not to be excluded in this game. Saturday night, we identified the best shooters in case it would be necessary. I do not rule out a failure in this game but the victory will be ours provided we impose our style.”
