Euro 2020 Australia Open : Laura Robson overcomes Petra Kvitova

Laura Robson who is British number 2 has beaten Petra Kvitova the former Wimbledon champion in a three hour long epic battle to book her place in the third round of the Australia Open.

With neither player displaying their best from it. It was a real test of will and determination that saw the British comes out on top, beating the eighth seed 2-6, 6-3, and 11-9.

Although the match is being riddled with mistakes, it will go down as a career high for the 18 years old girl, as she proved once again that she can hold her nerve in pressured situations against higher ranked opponents.

On Robson second time to serve the match; it was the joy of the crowd that Robson pulled off one of the great shock results of the tournament so far.

“I knew it was going to be really tough match. I have always struggled against ‘lefties’, she said.

“I was just trying to return her serves and it was very hard. But I knew once I got my returns firing a bit and I got a bit more confidence in my serve, I would get myself into the match, and that is what I managed to do.”
