Basket-ball George Karl (Denver) voted best coach in the NBA

The head coach of the Denver Nuggets, George Karl (61 years) was elected Wednesday best coach of the year for the first time in his career.

He led the Nuggets to the third place in the Eastern Conference by achieving a record win in the regular season for the franchise (57 wins with 25 losses).

Denver also has the best ratio of the League at home this season with only 3 losses to 38 wins.

“I am honored to represent the coaches and be their ambassador as coach of the year (…) There are probably seven or eight coaches who deserve this title and another 10 or 15 others who have done a good job without getting any recognition, “said the winner in a statement.

The beautiful season of the Nuggets stopped in the first round of the playoffs, eliminated by Golden State (4-2).

George Karl earned 404 points in the vote. He beat Erik Spoelstra (Miami Heat, 190 pts) and Mike Woodson (New York Knicks, 127 pts).

He is the second coach of the Nuggets to be distinguished after Doug Moe (1988).
