Techiman Eleven Wonders’ boss, Albert Yahaya Commey, has come out in support of the Ghanaian government’s decision to extend the suspension of football activities.

On Sunday 31 May, President H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo announced that the sport activities will continue to remain on hold. This has been decided as part of Ghana’s continuing efforts to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

Even though this means further economic hardship for clubs, Eleven Wonder CEO, Commey believes the government has taken the right decision in terms of health and safety of Ghana’s people.

“Coronavirus is a very dangerous pandemic and you can’t blame President Akufo-Addo for the measures put in place because he is the one who is briefed from all the regions on what is really happening. So you have no choice than to accept it whether you like it or not,” he told Happy FM.

He added, “As football people, our wish is to restart the season as soon as possible to offset some of the financial burdens as a result of this health crisis but God knows best and we should all play our role in helping to curtail the spread of the virus.”

The 2019-20 Ghana Premier League (GPL) has been suspended since mid-March and it appears that it will not be returning any time soon. Under half of the season played, the first-placed Berekum Chelsea led Aduana Stars by just one point when the campaign was halted.
