At the head of a federation constantly cited as an example by international authorities, Ahmed Yahya was not spared by critics. Again, he defends himself in a right of reply.

On his Facebook page, the boss of the FFRIM (Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Mautania) responds to his detractors. Accused of enriching himself through the federation, Ahmed Yahya replies that he does not receive “wages, salaries, or any other advantage although the law allows me”.

A businessman in the fishing industry, he believes he has enough to meet these needs. In addition, the member of the CAF Executive Committee recalls his numerous achievements thanks to state, CAF and FIFA funds.

It was under his reign that the FFRIM acquired a modern headquarters, an academy or an audiovisual production framework. And the national team competed for the first time in a CHAN (in 2014 and then in 2018) and a CAN in 2019.

“To detractors and other troublemakers in troubled water, we tell them that we do not have time for their delaying tactics,” he concluded.

Voted best African leader at the CAF Awards in 2017, Ahmed Yahya has been credited with nominations for the CAF presidency in recent weeks.
