FIFA officially announced the schedule for the Qatar 2022 World Cup on Wednesday. The event opens on 21 November at the Al Bayt stadium with a capacity of 60,000.

Due to the heat in Qatar in summer, for the first time, the World Cup will be held in winter. Thus the final of the tournament will take place on December 18 at the Lusail stadium with a capacity of 80,000 seats.

In the group stage, there will be 4 matches per day “in order to guarantee optimal rest periods“. For those who already wish to reserve their places for the competition, the first hospitality tickets will go on sale at the end of 2020. While ticketing for the general public will be revealed in due course.

In addition, group stage matches will take place at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. GMT (with simultaneous kickoffs on the final day). While the knockout matches will be held at 5:00 p.m. or 9:00 p.m.

5 African countries will be at the 2022 World Cup. They will be known at the end of the qualifications no later than March 2022
