Bafana Bafana abroad Bongani Zungu ‘honored’ to join Rangers FC on a season-long loan deal

Scottish Premier League side Rangers FC have secured the loan of South African midfielder Bongani Zungu from Ligue 1 side Amien SC and the 27-year-old seems to be happy.

Rangers FC waited till the deadline day of the transfer window to secure the arrival of Bongani Zungu on a season-long loan deal with option to buy at the end of the season. He is expected to help the club in their Europa League campaign.

“Good day Gers ! I am truly honored, humbled and blessed to join the club. I am looking forward to help the team on the pitch. I know that Ibrox won’t be the same without all the fans and I hope to see you there very soon” he wrote on social media.

Moreover, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard revealed reasons behind the loan of the Bafana Bafana.

“Bongani fits the profile of player that adds further strength and depth to our midfield. We made it clear that we wanted a player who will enhance our squad and starting XI. We believe Bongani does this,” he told the club’s website.

“We wanted a dominant midfielder with the right profile who can enhance the team and complement other players we have. We have monitored this situation all summer and now feel it’s the right time.

“Our board have been very supportive throughout the window with seven new signings. We believe we have a squad in place that will compete in all competitions, both domestically and in Europe. This is a pleasing transfer for us and we look forward to Bongani joining up with the squad.” he added.
