Egyptian Premier League Mosimane hails his players’ “tactical discipline” despite numerical infieriority

Pitso Mosimane

Al Ahly boss Pitso Mosimane found the right word ‘discipline’ to sum up how his ten men managed to keep a clean sheet against a full Pyramids team Sunday night.

Pitso Mosimane is making impressive coaching debut with Cairo giants as he registered two wins and one draw in his first three games as Al Ahly head coach.

Though his team team is slammed with several injuries especially that of first choice goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy, the team spirit did not disappear.

“My job is to help the team in the difficult moments and be calm to make them feel confident. I miss a player every game ever since I have been here but we move on without complaining” Mosimane told Al Ahly media.

“Afsha played well today. I spoke with him at half time and he was a little bit disappointed after missing a penalty at the first half. I wanted him to score at the second half to feel better but his shot hit the bar.

“It was a difficult game against a big team. We lost a player at the first half and played with 10 men for 65 minutes. However, we played with a spirit, tactical discipline and kept a clean sheet for the third consecutive game” he added.

In addition, former Mamelodi Sundowns coach will lead his first CAF Champions league game with Al Ahly on Saturday, October 17, while they face Wydad Casablanca in Morocco in the first leg of the semi-final.
