2022 AFCON Playoffs Squirrels defeat Lesotho to close up gap on Super Eagles

Super Eagles Group L opponent the Squirrel of Benin Republic on Saturday claimed their second win in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers following a 1-0 win over Lesotho 1-0 in Porto Novo.

It is Benin’s 2nd consecutive win in the team after dropping to Nigeria on matchday one.

Jodel Dossou was once the hero for Benin as he netted in the twenty fourth minute to tightly closed the win for his side.

The win took Benin Republic to 2nd on six points after three games, just one point at the back of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Lesotho are bottom in the group having failed to win any of their games.

Benin will hope to claim a favourable end result and boost their probabilities of qualifying for the 2021 AFCON, when they journey to Lesotho for the reverse fixture on Tuesday.

The winner and runners-up will qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
