Premier League Mourinho beat Lampard to Barclays manager of the Month Award

Jose Mourinho beat Frank Lampard David Moyes and Ole Gunnar Solksjaer to be named the Barclays Manager of the Month for November.

Mourinho claims the prize after going through the month unbeaten to lead Tottenham Hotspur to the top of the Premier League table.

Spurs secured one-goal victories over Brighton & Hove Albion and West Bromwich Albion, a 2-0 win over Manchester City and a 0-0 draw at Chelsea, their third clean sheet in four matches.

The 57-year-old scooped his fourth award since 2007 when he last won it after votes from the public were combined with those of a panel of football experts, to best other nominees.

After receiving the award, Mourinho said it is better to name the individual award as team of the month or staff of the month.

“It says Manager of the Month but for me it is team of the month or staff of the month.

“This is about the players, the coaches, my assistant, the sport science guys, the analysts and lots of others.”

The former Manchester United manager  picked out the “complete performance” against Man City as his highlight of November.

“That win against Manchester City and the way we did it, with a performance that we as a staff consider a very complete one,” added Mourinho.

“We were very good in every moment of the game.

“It was the first of three consecutive matches – Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal – where from a mental point, if you do not get victory in the first one it is probably going to affect your self-esteem and confidence for the next one.

“November as a month highlights the momentum, what we are and the reason why we are doing so well.”
