Nigeria Balogun Gets Contract Extension With Rangers FC

Scottish Premiership Football League(SPFL) champions Rangers FC has handed Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun a contract extension.

 
Balogun who joined Rangers at the beginning of the 2020/2021 season signed a one-year contract with the option of extension from Wigan Athletic.
 
The former Brighton and Hove Albions defender played a vital role in helping the Gers win the Scottish league with the season yet to be concluded.
 

According to Scottish Sun, the former Mainz defender needed 23 games to trigger a new contract.

He was able to impress Steven Gerrard and had more playing time as he reached the hallmark in Rangers victory against Celtic before the international break.

Balogun has now played 29 games creating two assists for his club.

He made eight appearances on the UEFA Europa League for Rangers before their elimination. 

 
Balogun was in action for the Super Eagles two AFCON qualifier games against Benin Republic and Lesotho.
