Super Eagles forward, Paul Onuachu, has won the 2020/21 Ebony Shoe Award in Belgium. The KRC Genk player claimed the award meant for the best African player in the European country for this campaign on Monday.

He became the first Nigerian player to win the award twenty-five years after Celestine Babayaro won the prize in 1996.

The 25-year-old forward scored 33 goals to break the twenty-year-old record of Wesley Sonck in 38 Belgian Jupiler league games in this campaign.

The former Midtjylland and Vejle player joined the likes of Godwin Okpara, Daniel Amokachi, Victor Ikpeba, and Celestine Babayaro to win the award.

He also ended the season as the Belgian Jupiler League top goal scorer and best player of the season.

Genk finished second on the league table at the end of the season.
