African players abroad Haller continues fine scoring form as Ajax remain top

Ivorian striker Sebastien Haller scored once as Ajax Amsterdam thumped Borussia Dortmund 4-0 on Tuesday evening to remain top of Group C of the Uefa Champions League.

Haller scored in the 72nd minute for his sixth goal in three games to remain the leading scorer of the campaign at Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam.

Ajax’s other goals come from Marco Reus’ 11th minute own goal, followed by strikes from Daley Blind (25th minute) then Antony in the 57th minute.

Next, Ajax will now travel to Germany to meet Dortmund in the reverse match of the league scheduled for November 3 2021.

This result saw Haller stealing the limelight from Erling Haaland of Dortmund who is considered among the hottest young strikers in the world.

Haller went into the game after having scored five goals in two games against Sporting CP and Besiktas.

Ajax are unbeaten in the group and lead with nine points from two games followed by second placed Dortmund.
