CAF Champions League Morrison masterminds downfall of his former employers Pirates

Tanzania giants Simba SC defeated South Africa’s Orlando Pirates 1-0 in a Confederation Cup quarterfinal first leg match on Sunday evening.

Ghanaian winger Benard Morrison was the architect for Simba’s slender win over his former employers at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Morrison earned a penalty, which Shomari Kapombe dispatched into the net in the 68th minute after sending goalkeeper Richard Ofori the wrong way.

Simba broke the deadlock after profiting from a reckless Happy Jele foul on his former team-mate Morrison wide on the left wing.

The win gave Simba an advantage going into the second leg in South Africa next weekend in Soweto.

Confirmed line-ups:

Simba XI: Manula, Morrison, Lwanga, Wawa, Mugalu, Kapombe, Husseini (c), Sakho, Mkude, Baka, Banda

Pirates: Ofori, Jele, Maela, Nyauza, Shandu, Ndlovu, Mosele, Monare, Hotto, Dlamini, Peprah
