Burkina Faso coach Hubert Velud was ruled out of the Group B match of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Eswatini on Tuesday afternoon.

Burkina Faso Football Federation confirmed in a statement that Velud missed the match at FNB Stadium in South Africa after testing positive for Covid-19.

“The national coach has tested positive for Covid-19. Hubert Velud will not be on the bench for the Eswatini-Burkina Faso match. Firmin Sanou will provide the coaching,” the statement reads.

Velud missed the match alongside key players Hervé Koffi, Fessal Tapsoba and Ismaila Ouedraogo.

“The first got injured during the encounter against Cape Verde and the second has been feeling stomach pains,” the association added.
