WAFCON 2022 first qualified for the semi-finals are the Copper Queens of Zambia who booked their place for the next round by beating Senegal on penalties (4-2) after a 1-1 stalemate at the end of extra time.
The Copper Queens are through to the next round. Bruce Mwape’s girls came from behind to snatch the draw against Teranga Lions and beat them on penalty shootouts.
The Lionesses were the first to write their name on the scoresheet as Nguenar Ndiaye put them ahead in after 61 minutes of play.

However, Mame Cissé’s girls lacked concentration after the opener and gave the Copper Queens a chance to equalize and Avell Chitundu brought them level in the 70th minute.
The scoreline remained unchanged (1-1) until the end of extra time with Zambia kicking off the penalty shootouts.

Ndeye Awa Diakhité also missed her’s (fourth penalty) so as Lushomo Mweemba for Zambia. But Hazel Nali scored the winner for the Copper Queens who won 4-2 on penalties.
