The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has announced that the 2022-2023 League season will start on 15 October 2022 with the current season ending on 30 August.

However with the aim to comply with national plans to turn off lights early in order to save energy, Egypt sports minister requires early kick-offs for football games in the new season in order.

“The Premier League will inform all clubs that the last starting time of football games in the new season will be 07:00 pm instead of 09:00 pm in the ending season.”  Minister of Sports Ashraf Sobhy told ON Time Sports TV channel.

“Early starting times come in accordance to the recently launched plan by the government to reduce local power consumption. We instructed all the stadiums’ officials to turn off the lights immediately at the end of matches.” The sports minister added.

Earlier in August, Egypt launched a plan to reduce local power consumption with the aim of exporting more natural gas.
