CAF CONFEDERATION CUP Rivers United Were Not Denied Access To Training By Police – Emeruwa

CAF Head of Security, Mr. Christian Emeruwa has cleared the air on report being circulated that Rivers United were denied training by Moroccan Police.

The Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL champions were rumoured to have been blocked by police not to train ahead of their Sunday CAF Champions League game against Wydad Casablanca.

However, according to a Twitter message shared by Wale Quadry revealed that Rivers United had booked a training site in mohammedia which is a city outside Casablanca.

In Morocco the police cannot provide escorts services beyond their jurisdiction as such they needed time to contact the Gendermerie so that they can handover and allow the Gendermerie to escort the team to their training site.

Arranging such escort change over, requires some time and this was why the police asked the team to wait a bit.

However, all procedures was competed and the team had their training.

The team also shared a picture of their walk out on Saturday morning ahead of the Sunday game.

Rivers United defeated Wydad Casablanca 2-1 in the first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary stage.
