CAF Champions League CAF CL:Rivers United Bounce Back To Defeat Wydad In Port Harcourt

In their CAF Champions League first leg match, Nigeria’s Rivers United came from behind to defeat tenacious Moroccan powerhouse Wydad Casablanca 2-1.

The first 30 minutes of the game at the Adokiye Amasiamaka Stadium in Port-Harcourt saw spectacular plays from both teams.

Bouly Sambouly of the visiting team opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, but the home team promptly answered with Michael Ohahume’s equalizer two minutes later.

The second half was dominated by the “Pride of Rivers,” who added a second goal in the 55th minute thanks to Paul Acquah.

Both Morice Chukwu and Nyima Nwagua had chances to score more goals for the home team, but they were unable to take advantage of them, and the score remained 2-1.

Both legs of the competition will advance to the group stage after the second leg game, which will be played at Mohammed V Sports Complex the following weekend.
