Nigerian Players abroad Osimhen Cancels Out Lookman Goal To Hand Napoli Win Against Atalanta

On Saturday, Napoli defeated Atalanta 2-1 in the Serie A thanks to goals from Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman.

In nine Serie A games so far this season, Osimhen has scored eight goals.

With 32 goals in 60 games, he has overtaken the previous top Nigerian scorer in Serie A.

For his part, Lookman has six points this season in the Italian premier tier.

In addition, Lookman has scored five goals in the last six league contests for Atalanta.

With 13 games remaining in the season, Napoli has a 35 point advantage over Atalanta, moving up to second place, by eight points.


Atalanta’s first opportunity came in minute three when Lookman crossed from the left for Rasmus Hojlund, forcing Alex Meret into a one-on-one save.

After Osimhen touched the ball inside the box on minute 19, Lookman then gave Atalanta the lead from the penalty spot.

On the other hand, Osimhen swiftly atoned for his error by tying the score for Napoli on minute 23 thanks to a free header on a Piotr Zielinski floating cross from a short corner.

On the 35th minute, Osimhen outran Merih Demiral along the right side and drew the ball back for Eljif Elmas to score from 10 yards, dramatically turning the game around for Napoli.
