AFCON-20 AFCON U20: Flying Eagles Edges Uganda To Book Semi Finals Ticket

After a victory over Uganda on Thursday night, Ladan Bosso’s Nigerian Flying Eagles earned a spot in the semi finals of the AFCON U20 and 2023 FIFA World Cup.

At the Suez stadium in Cairo, where they competed, spectators saw a display of fireworks as each team attempted to seize the initiative.

Goalkeeper Chinedu Anigboso of Nigeria successfully saved the ball after the Hippos of Uganda nearly scored from a corner kick in the opening period.

Before the first half was over, a Nigerian own goal by Ugandan defender Juma gave the Nigerian team its first lead.

Although the Uganda team played better in the second half, they were unable to penetrate the Flying Eagles’ defense.

Nigeria qualified for the FIFA U20 World Cup, which will take place in Indonesia in May, and joined Senegal in the competition’s Semi Final.
