Arsenal Ramsdale Signs Long Term Contract With Arsenal

Aaron Ramsdale and Arsenal have agreed to a lengthy contract extension.

Ramsdale, a 24-year-old goalkeeper for England, has played 76 times for the Gunners since arriving from Sheffield United in August 2021.

The No. 1 goalkeeper for Arsenal had two years left on his contract, but following a remarkable campaign for Mikel Arteta’s team, the goalie was given new terms.

Ramsdale said: “It’s a huge amount of pride, it’s something you work for.

“It doesn’t matter if you’ve been at the club for a month or for four years, you always want to get the next [contract] and push on with the team.

“To get it after two years, I’m buzzing. It just means I can concentrate and keep my head down and hopefully after a few more years I’ll get another one and carry on living the dream at the football club.

“As soon as you put that Arsenal shirt on, they [fans] will give you every chance to try and perform.

“I knew I could win them over at some point — and thankfully I did that quite early really.”

Arteta added: “We’re all so happy that Aaron has signed a new contract.

“The way Aaron has developed over the past two years has been exceptional, with his performances, contribution and overall adaptation to the club.

“It’s great that we’re continuing to build our future with our biggest talents in our young squad.

“We’re all looking forward to enjoying many more years of Aaron the player and the person at the football club.”

Ramsdale has kept 13 clean sheets in 36 Premier League games for the North Londoners this season; only David de Gea (16) and Alisson (14) have more.

The former Bournemouth goalkeeper has three caps for the Three Lions thanks to his efforts at the Emirates, preserving clean sheets against San Marino and Italy.
