Inaki Wiliams will is no longer the only player to be ruled out Madagascar vs Ghana clash as Chris Hughton and his staff received another major blow on Tuesday.

The Athletic Bilbao forward was due to join the squad for 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers’ matchday 5.

Williams explained he sustained a knee injury weeks ago and it could not allow him to represent well his country this month.

“Since few weeks ,I’ve been playing with pain in my right knee. I decided to play until the end of the season, but after having spoken to the medical services, we’ve decided to stop and solve the problem to be 100% for the preseason,” he wrote on social media.

But another Black Stars received another bad news on Tuesday as AJ Auxerre left-back Gideon Menah also pulled out due to a knee injury.

“We expect him to have enough rest during the break to be able to recover on time for next season,” Black Stars’s team medical chief Dr Prince Pambo said after Mensah who joined the squad on Monday was excused.

Black Stars (7 points and first) will leave Ghana on Friday heading to Antananarivo where they will take on Madagascar (1 point and bottom) on Sunday, June 18.

Chris Hughton and his men need to win to seal their qualification for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
