Napoli Napoli Appoints Former Ronaldo Coach, Garcia As Manager

Napoli, the Serie A champion, announced on Thursday that Frenchman Rudi Garcia has been hired as their head coach.

In place of Luciano Spalletti, who resigned after leading the southern club to their first Scudetto in 33 years, comes ex-Roma manager Garcia, 59.

Given that he had recently led Napoli to their first Scudetto in 33 years, the choice was somewhat unexpected.

Garcia will oversee a talented group of talents in the interim, whether or not he intends to return to Napoli.

On the Napoli website, president Aurelio De Laurentiis made the following statement:

We give him the most sincere welcome and wish him luck.” It was a surprisingly short statement for such an important announcement.

De Laurentiis had a few more words on Twitter as he wrote: “I am pleased to announce that, having met and worked with him for the last 10 days, Mr Rudi Garcia will be the new coach of Napoli. To him the most sincere welcome and a big good luck!”

Rudi Garcia has been named as Napoli’s new coach!” Napoli said on social media.

Welcome, Rudi!” they added.

In April, Garcia was sacked by Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia.
