Kenyan Premier League Tusker will finish season empty-handed – Homeboyz chair Shimanyula

Kakamega Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula has opened a war of words with Tusker claiming they will finish the season empty-handed after failing to beat Gor Mahia to the FKF Premier League title.

The Brewers had a good chance to claim their 14th league title but bottled it with three matches to go, allowing K’Ogalo to lift a record-extending 20th title on the final day of the season after beating Nairobi City Stars 4-1 at Kasarani Stadium last Sunday.

However, Tusker still have a chance to end the season with silverware as they will come up against Homeboyz in the final of the Mozzart Bet FKF Cup at Kasarani Stadium on Saturday. Ahead of the fixture, Shimanyula has warned the Brewers to anticipate nothing but a beating from his charges.

“In my point of view, Tusker is a very weak team, we gave them a boost to win the league title when slowed down Gor Mahia by beating them 3-2 but they ended up not winning the trophy, we will also punish them further by defeating them on Saturday,” said Shimanyula.

“We did a great favour for them [Tusker] by beating Gor, but instead of finishing the race [by winning the title], they bottled it, now they think they will beat Homeboyz for the domestic cup? They should forget winning any title this season, we will not give them room to get close to the trophy, we are prepared and ready to beat them just come and watch my boys do the damage.”

Shimanyula added Homeboyz are ready to represent Kenya in the Caf Confederation Cup hence their focus is to win the domestic Cup.

“We have a young squad that is ready to take up the flag for continental football, they are hungry for success, they want to board the plane and I am sure they will finish the job on Saturday and earn the ticket to represent the country,” concluded Shimanyula.

While Homeboyz eliminated AFC Leopards 2-1 in the semi-finals, Tusker defeated Ulinzi Stars by the same margin to reach the final.
